Description
This is a 1930s - World War II distinctive insignia by Meyer for the United States Army 23rd Quartermaster Regiment. The 23rd was formed in May 1936 under the Regular Army as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 23d Quartermaster Regiment (Truck-Corps), and assigned to the Third Corps area. It was later redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 23d Quartermaster Regiment (Truck), again as 23d Quartermaster Truck Regiment, and finally as 23d Quartermaster Group. The DI shows fragmented black and gold bends against a field of purple, all bordered in gold.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s - World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/16" in height and 1-1/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch (swivel part of the catch is missing).
MARKINGS:N.S. MEYER NEW YORK, engraved shield maker mark.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): The DI shows some light wear and tarnish and the swivel part of the catch is missing.
