Description
This is a circa 1930s lapel pin for the Turkish Aeronautical Association (Türk Hava Kurumu or THK) Company. THK traces its roots to a government run aeronautical association started in 1925 as the Turkish Aircraft Foundation (Türk Tayyare Cemiyeti or TTaC) which in 1935 became the Turkish Aeronautical Association (Türk Hava Kurumu or THK) and in 1936 began the construction of Gliders (as pictured on this pin) and later motorized aircraft. This pin is from the post 1935 era, and pre-WWII. An interesting piece of Turkish aviation history.
