This is an early (circa 1920s) New Jersey State Highway Department officer badge. The first officers had motor vehicle jurisdiction. The badge has a low number (17).
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-7/8" in height and 1-7/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass with enameled lettering.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with forked locking catch.
MARKINGS:None.
