This is a beautiful old badge from the Emergency company (another name for Ambulance company) of Uniondale, Indiana. It is definitely one of the oldest ambulance badges I have seen.
VINTAGE:Circa 1910s-1920s.
SIZE:About 1-3/4" in width by 2-1/8" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Stamped nickel with nickel plating and hand-fired red enamel at center. Black paint in lettering.
ATTACHMENT:Large kick pin with a "C" catch.
MARKINGS:Maker's plate is soldered to the back. It reads: C. G. BRAXMAR CO. 242 West 55 ST. N.Y.
ITEM NOTES:This is from a large collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months.
CONDITION:6+ (Fine-Very Fine): Minor wear and tarnishing overall. Wear to enameled cross at center and slight discoloration in right arm of cross from old crack. No enamel is missing.
