ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1900 celluloid donation pin for the American Humane Education Society (AHES). This celluloid pin was handed out by Boston's Jordan Marsh Company with the advent of the Society's "Be Kind to Animals" campaign, The pin shows birds, a dog, a cat and a horse at its center.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1900.

SIZE:

Approximately 1" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Celluloid wrapped tin, paper backing.

ATTACHMENT:

Straight pin.

MARKINGS:

Official Button of the American Human Education Society Presented by Jordan Marsh Company Boston.

CONDITION:

7 (Very Fine): The pin has only some light wear and overall yellowing; some oxidation on reverse only.
