Description
This is a McCord's patented police combination rattle, whistle and billy club from the 1850s. The club is wooden with a brass sleeve over the club part. The whistle and the rattle are joined and the whistle pivots out at a forty-five degree angle for access. The rattle, a wooden device used to attract attention with a large clacking noise, was standard issue for police until it was found that the sound of a whistle could be heard farther off.
