Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II officer collar insignia for the Women's Army Corps, the first women other than nurses served with the US Army. The insignia is the helmeted head of Pallas Athena, the Greek goddess of war and wisdom.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/16" in height and 11/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gold-plated brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Two posts with clutch-back catches.

MARKINGS:

None.
