This is a World War II submarine launch badge for USS Shad SS-235, launched April 15, 1942 at Portsmouth (NH) Navy Yard. Shad received six battle stars for her World War II service over eleven war patrols and was used as a training vessel for reservists post-war.
VINTAGE:Circa 1942.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/2" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Celluloid-wrapped tin.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin.
MARKINGS:None.

CONDITION:8 (Excellent-): The badge shows light wear and tarnish only, and the one you receive will either be this one or one in very comparable shape.
