ARTIFACT: This is a World War II submarine launch badge for USS Shad SS-235, launched April 15, 1942 at Portsmouth (NH) Navy Yard. Shad received six battle stars for her World War II service over eleven war patrols and was used as a training vessel for reservists post-war.

VINTAGE: Circa 1942.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/2" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Celluloid-wrapped tin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MAEL02 LEJX7/11

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The badge shows light wear and tarnish only, and the one you receive will either be this one or one in very comparable shape.
