This is a World War II USS Steelhead SS-280 launch badge. Steelhead was launched on September 11, 1942 from the Portsmouth (NH) Navy Yard. Steelhead received six battle stars for World War II service.
VINTAGE:Circa 1942.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/8" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Celluloid-wrapped tin.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin.
MARKINGS:None.
