ARTIFACT: This is a US Submarine Finback "Launched Today, Navy Yard, Portsmouth, N.H." Postal Cover in black and white. Courtesy of www.hazegray.org: All save the third, ninth, and twelfth of Finback's 12 war patrols were designated "successful." She received 13 battle stars for World War II service, and is credited with having sunk 69,383 tons of enemy shipping.

VINTAGE: Circa August 25, 1941.

SIZE: About 6-1/2" in width by 3-3/4" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Printed paper .

MARKINGS: Post Mark/Cancellation: AUGUST 25, 1941, US NAVY. Cancellation Announcement: FINBACK LAUNCHED.

CONDITION: 8- (Very fine-Excellent): Foxing on back with slight appearance on front right.
