ARTIFACT: This is a World War II United States Submarine Finback (SS-230) postal cover. The Finback was launched Aug 25, 1941, and all save the third, ninth, and twelfth of her twelve war patrols were designated "successful." She received 13 battle stars for World War II service, and is credited with having sunk 69,383 tons of enemy shipping.

VINTAGE: Circa August 25, 1941.

SIZE: Approximately 6-1/2" in width by 3-3/4" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Printed paper.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: Cachet by Ports. Navy Yard Improvement Assoc; PACE on illustration.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBX00 LHX7/11

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The cover has some light to medium wear and small spots of light discoloration.
