Description
This is a World War II United States Submarine Finback (USS-230) "Launched Today, Navy Yard, Portsmouth, N.H." postal cover. All save the third, ninth, and twelfth of Finback's 12 war patrols were designated "successful." She received 13 battle stars for World War II service, and is credited with having sunk 69,383 tons of enemy shipping.
VINTAGE:Circa August 25, 1941.
SIZE:Approximately 6-1/2" in width by 3-3/4" in height.
