This is a patch from World War II for the United States Maritime Service, which was first organized in 1938 to train men for service in the Merchant Marine. The patch is embroidered in bright red showing a shield within a life preserver flanked by two anchors.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 3-1/8" in height and 2-13/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Muslin embroidered in cotton/silk threads.
ATTACHMENT:To be sewn on.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The patch has overall light wear with some unraveling along its edge.
