In July 1949, the Field Station became the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories (AFCRL). The Research Center worked in conjunction with the Bedford radar test facility at Bedford Airfield on current developments, paving the way for the SAGE (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment) Air Defense System. Both badges are numbered 19.
