ARTIFACT:

This is a plaque in a beautiful reddish wood made for the United States 5th Army Engineers in either North Africa or Italy. The plaque is shield-shaped and is carved out except for the relief of a castle and a Byzantine-style domed building housing an AThe background has been notched out to resemble an exotic woven pattern.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

8-7/8" height and 8" width and 11/16" depth.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Wood.

ATTACHMENT:

Metal hanger with loop.
