Description
This is a World War II launch tag for the launching of the USS Medregal (SS-480) from the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard. The Medregal was launched on December 15, 1944, and damage sustained during an underwater collision had her retreating for repairs at the time of the German surrender. She subsequently served in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets until the end of her United States Navy career in 1972.
VINTAGE:Circa 1944.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/16 in height (excluding 3-5/8" of string) and 1-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Foiled card stock with silk string.
ATTACHMENT:Punched hole with string.
