Description
This is a circa World War II worker identification badge by Whitehead & Hoag for the Solar Aircraft Company. Born in 1927 as the Prudden-San Diego Airplane Company, the outfit was renamed Solar Aircraft Company two years later. Initially an aircraft manufacturer, Solar had to diversify and manufacture components as well as turbines. The badge is numbered 9015 and someone applied a blue foil star over the company logo.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/2" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass with painted lettering, printed paper, celluloid.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The pin has some areas of light to medium wear with most of the painted lettering having worn away.
