Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II Model AN-H-15 summer flight helmet for the United States Army Air Forces.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Medium.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Cotton twill with leather chin straps and goggle straps, brass buckle and snaps, and rubber ear coverings.

ATTACHMENT:

Leather straps with brass buckle and eight punched holes.

MARKINGS:

Manufacturer label: SPEC. AN-H-15 MEDIUM ORDER NO. 44-2881-AF ST. NO. 8300-401520 BATES SHOE CO. ARMY AIR FORCES ; hard-to-read inspection stamp.
