This is a beautiful Mediterranean Allied Air Forces patriotic silk scarf by Brooke Cadwallader. According to LIFE Magazine, some of Cadwallader's artistic Manhattan-made scarves had already become collector's pieces just after the war. This scarf has fun, bright colors dominated by aqua blue and juxtaposes aircraft silhouettes with the names of MAAF players such as DESERT AIR FORCE, 12th AIR FORCE, and BALKAN AIR FORCE.
Circa World War II.
Approximately 29-1/2" by 27-1/2" (not including foam board).
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Silk, embroidered in cotton/silk threads.
BROOKE CADWALLADER, IMP.
This scarf will be shipped unwrapped and folded without the foam board, unless arrangements are made for pick-up or special shipping to preserve the shrink wrap mounting. This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. Ebay VGEX09 LCEJX11/11
7- (Very Fine-): The scarf has some small, scattered spots of light staining and no rips.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
