ARTIFACT:
This is a jacket patch for the United States Army Air Forces 13th Air Corps Ferry Squadron, 13th Ferrying Squadron, 13th Air Transport Squadron.
The patch shows an infant Mercury sending a stylized aircraft (in the form of the ACFC / ATC Deco Eagle Design) across the globe, indicative of the Squadron's first duty: Ferrying. .
VINTAGE:
Circa early World War II.
SIZE:
About 5" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Cotton/silk embroidery on wool, mesh backing.
ATTACHMENT:
To be sewn onto a garment.

CONDITION:
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The patch shows light storage wear. And someone in the past has penned 13 on Mercury's thigh, no doubt to keep track of the unit designation.
