Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa World War I United States Navy cap tally for the USS Franklin, receiving ship at Norfolk, Virginia. The Franklin was built at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1854, and after an illustrious career as various flagships in the European Squadron, became a receiving ship on March 2, 187She was decommissioned in 1915.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War I.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/2" in height and 31-5/8" in length.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Silk ribbon with tinsel thread embroidery.
