ARTIFACT:
This is an exquisite World War I United States Air Service 3rd Air Service mechanic's souvenir pillowcase with delicate embroidery and lace trim. The case was made in France and bears the initials of the airman around a winged propeller at its center.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War I.
SIZE:
Approximately 21" in height and 21-1/2" in width (not including foam board).
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Silk embroidered in silk/cotton threads with lace edging. This pillowcase is shrink-wrapped to a piece of foam board and will be shipped unwrapped and folded without the foam board unless arrangements are made for pick-up or special shipping to preserve the shrink wrap mounting.
