ARTIFACT: This is a World War I St. John Ambulance Association ambulance driver hat badge Type 1. The type I version has the Rd. ("Registered") number on the front, just below the Maltese Cross. The British organization has links to the age-old Order of St. John.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/8" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Two loops with cotter pin.

MARKINGS: Rd. 111901.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows some light to moderate wear and tarnish.
