Description
This is a World War I service medal from the State Council of New Jersey Junior Order of the United American Mechanics. The front of the medal reads WORLD WAR 1917 1918 JR. O.U.A.M. VIRTUE LIBERTY PATRIOTISM and shows an eagle above the Masonic insignia. The reverse reads PRESENTED BY THE STATE COUNCIL OF NEW JERSEY JR. O.U.A.M TO OUR GALLANT BROTHER IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION OF HIS SERVICE. The Junior OUAM was begun in 1853 in Philadelphia.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:2-3/4" height and 1-5/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass medal with silk ribbon.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with "C" catch on brass bar.
MARKINGS:WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. PAT APPL'D FOR on reverse of bar.
