ARTIFACT:

This is a World War I service medal from Buncombe County, North Carolina. The medal hangs from a plain bar and its reverse reads PRESENTED TO HER GALLANT SONS IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION OF THEIR PART IN THE WORLD'S WAR APRIL 1917-NOVEMBER 1918.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War I.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-13/16" height and 1-5/16" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Bronze, brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with C catch on bar with suspension ring.

ITEM NOTES:

CONDITION:

7 (Very Fine): The medal shows some light to moderate wear and tarnish and some light oxidation.
