WWI Era United States Army 3rd Infantry Regiment Officer collar insignia. The 3rd Infantry regiment is currently the oldest active duty regiment in the United States Army. First organized in 1784 as the First American Regiment, the 3rd, also called "The Old Guard" conducts memorial ceremonies and events that honor fallen comrades.
