ARTIFACT:

This is a World War I era Sacramento, California Deputy Sheriff "Posse" or Special / Wartime Auxiliary badge numbered 833. 

The badge has a Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Company maker mark on reverse which is partially hidden by the solder from a period replacement of the pin.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War I, 1917 - 1918.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-1/2" in height and 1-11/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Nickel-plated brass, steel pin (old replacement).

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical safety-style pin (period replacement) .

MARKINGS:

L.A. RUBBER STAMP CO. (mark partially hidden by the solder).

CONDITION:

6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The badge shows some areas of light to moderate wear; steel pin is an old replacement.
