ARTIFACT: WWI Service Medal, presented by the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen (BRT) with wonderful engraved top bar: "11th REGT. U.S. MARINES" (USMC, Marine Corps). The medallion depicts Liberty standing with a child in nice relief detail and reads: "FOR SERVICE IN THE WORLD WAR FOR LIBERTY AND FOR FREEDOM OF NATIONS". The reverse of the top bar shows the number: "12492" and the reverse of the medallion reads: "Presented by the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen To Its Members Who Gave Their Service To Their Country For The Sake Of Democracy And Uplifting Of Humanity". This #'d medal is a unique addition to a USMC collection.

VINTAGE: Circa WWI

SIZE: Approximately 1-5/16" x 1-15/16"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt bronze

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with "C" type catch.

MARKINGS: "W & H CO. NEWARK, N.J."

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): The medal shows minor to moderate wear, much of the plated details remain intact, handsome patina, overall excellent condition.
