ARTIFACT:

This is a WWI Service Medal, presented by the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen (BRT) Sadly Modified for wear by Gold Star Mother. The medallion depicts Liberty standing with a child in nice relief detail and reads: "FOR SERVICE IN THE WORLD WAR FOR LIBERTY AND FOR FREEDOM OF NATIONS" on front. "Presented by the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen To Its Members Who Gave Their Service To Their Country For The Sake Of Democracy And Uplifting Of Humanity" on back.

Approximately 3" in height x 1-5/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt bronze, silk ribbon.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with tongue-style catch.
