ARTIFACT: This is a wonderful framed World War II promotional PT (patrol torpedo) boat print from the Electric Boat Company (Elco). Begun in 1892, Elco manufactured several types of boats, including yachts, power boats and boats for the United States Coast Guard and Navy. This print reads HEIRS TO THE FAME OF JOHN PAUL JONES, a nod to the Scottish-born "Father of the American Navy." The print was done by O.F. Schmidt, a wartime artist of colorful scenes.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 20" in height by 25" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Print, glass, wood, paper backing.

ATTACHMENT: Wire hanger.

MARKINGS: ELCO PT IN ACTION; COPYRIGHT 1945 ELECTRIC BOAT COMPANY, NEW YORK; framer's label on reverse.
