ARTIFACT: This is a wonderful Swedish-made Order of St. John of Malta medal with an 1813 date mark. The medal dates from the time of the Exile of the Order, which began in 1798 with Napoleon's appropriation of the island for strategic advantage during his Egyptian campaign. The Order of St. John was prohibited from raising arms against fellow Christians, and therefore vacated the island. The medal is a silver Maltese Cross with intricate filigree detailing.

VINTAGE: Circa 1813.

SIZE: Approximately 1-13/16" in height and 1-7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical T-style pin with C catch.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a medal collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. TREJJX11 LCEJJX1/12

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The medal shows only very light wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
