ARTIFACT:

This is wonderful, but SMALL, Old West City Marshal 8-point star badge in coin silver from the 1860's - 1870's.

Although larger badges existed at the time this badge was made and worn, it was also a fashion for the City Marshal, often a man of importance, to wear just a small badge on his suit lapel. 

This badge is a similar size to, and reminiscent of, a Civil War Corps Badge. No doubt the Marshal was familiar with these and probably fashioned his new Lawman Badge to mirror the Military Badge he had most likely worn not too long before. 

If only this badge could tell its story! 

VINTAGE:

Circa 1860's - 1870's.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/4" in height x 1-5/16 in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Coin Silver.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal T-style pin with open C catch.
