ARTIFACT: Wonderful 1880s Orting Washington Town Marshal Badge Possibly the Town's First. Red Patina and light Pitting May be signs of the Badge having spent some time Underground. If only this one Could talk!

The first recorded claims for land in Orting were made in 1854. The town was renamed from Carbon (or Whitesell's Crossing) to Orting in 1878's, and Orting has it's first Mayor in 1880's. Orting was officially incorporated as a city on April 22, 1889.

VINTAGE: 1880's.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/8" in height x 21-7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel with black painted letter with Nickel plated brass pin.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety-style pin

MARKINGS: N/A.

CONDITION: 7 (Fine - Very Fine): The badge shows Red Patina and light Pitting May be signs of the Badge having spent some time Underground, painted detail remains intact. Overall fine condition.
