This is a Wonderful 1850's -1860's Fire Badge for the 2nd Assistant Foreman of an unknown Hook & Ladder Company.
The badge reads:
R Hook & Ladder Co. No.1, 2nd Ast Foreman
It is made from a US Seated Liberty Half Dollar Coin by an unknown maker: W. H. Case.
Although the badge was found in Texas, I have no idea where it is from. I wish it could tell its story!
Circa 1850's - 1860's.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/16" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:900 Silver (from Seated Liberty Half Dollar) with Nickel & Brass Findings.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical T-style pin with "C" catch.
