ARTIFACT: This is a wonderful War of 1812 period horseman's sabre. It is in a full brass scabbard, with a bright blade and even the remnants of some of the handle's leather remain. The name B P Dow is scratched lightly in the back ear of the guard.

VINTAGE: Circa 1812.

SIZE: Overall: approximately 38-1/2" in length and 5-1/4" in width; blade only: 33" (measured across the arc) by 1-3/4" (at widest part); scabbard only: 34" x 2-1/2".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, brass, leather.

ATTACHMENT: Rings on scabbard.

MARKINGS: B. P. DOW (scratched lightly in the back ear of the guard).

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay MBJJX12 LAAJJX9/12 SeACFJX4/15

CONDITION: 7 (Overall Very Fine): The sword has a bright blade and some remnants of the leather on handle still remain; scabbard has spots of light to moderate wear and tarnish.
