Description
This is a wonderful War of 1812 period horseman's sabre. It is in a full brass scabbard, with a bright blade and even the remnants of some of the handle's leather remain. The name B P Dow is scratched lightly in the back ear of the guard.
VINTAGE:Circa 1812.
SIZE:Overall: approximately 38-1/2" in length and 5-1/4" in width; blade only: 33" (measured across the arc) by 1-3/4" (at widest part); scabbard only: 34" x 2-1/2".
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Steel, brass, leather.
ATTACHMENT:Rings on scabbard.
MARKINGS:B. P. DOW (scratched lightly in the back ear of the guard).
