ARTIFACT: This is an early membership ribbon bar for the National Society of Scabbard and Blade. The ribbon is in silk and bears five riveted stars, each one representing one of the five founders of the society. Scabbard and Blade is a college military society founded in 1904 at the University of Wisconsin, and membership is also open to all students entering the United States Armed Forces (ROTC/JRROTC). The ribbon dates to the 1910s or 1920s.

VINTAGE: Circa 1910's-1920's.

SIZE: Approximately 3/8" in height and 1-3/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silk-wrapped brass bar, plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a societies and organizations collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay MEX12 LDEX4/13

CONDITION: 6 (Fine+): The bar shows medium wear, and the maroon (upper) section especially is faded.
