ARTIFACT: This is a great circa 1940s enameled collar badge for the Rhode Island Forest Fire Service. One of the service's most famous wardens, "Chief Nancy", worked here during the period this badge was worn. She was recognized as the first female fire warden in the world, serving as the Southern Rhode Island Forest Fire Warden. She also pioneered the Cedar Hill Volunteer Fire Department Experiment Station, buying and rigging out her own truck, complete with generator and two motorized pumps. The diamond-shaped pin has a green enameled tree at center with the word FIRE emblazoned across it in red.

VINTAGE: Circa 1940s.

SIZE: Approximately 7/8" square.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post with disc backing.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an old Rhode Island fire badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MAEX14 LHEX6/14 SGEX3/16

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The pin has some light wear only.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
