Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa Vietnam War era F-111 jacket patch for the United States Air Force 474th Tactical Fighter Wing (TFW), aka the "Road Runners". Assigned to Nellis AFB, Nevada in early 1968, the 474th became the first operational wing to fly the General Dynamics F-111 aircraft. A small number from the wing were sent to Southeast Asia for this purpose and dubbed "Operation Lancer". The patch is fully embroidered and shows a roadrunner at center.

VINTAGE:

Circa Vietnam War.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-15/16" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester threads.

CONDITION:

7 (Very Fine): The patch has some light wear and some small ink stains to the very edge of the front border and on reverse.
