This is a very rare distinctive insignia for the Brazilian Expeditionary Force 1st Infantry Battalion. This beautiful insignia reads BRASIL and shows a coiled snake with a tulip upon its tongue. Brazil was the only South American country to provide troops during World War II.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:1-1/8" height and 7/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass with multi-colored enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin.
MARKINGS:Hard to read maker's name and RIO.
