Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a very rare commemorative fob for a November 7, 1929 USS Akron ring-laying ceremony. Built by the Goodyear-Zeppelin Company, the United States Navy USS Akron (ZRS-4) was the largest airship ever made in the United States up to that point. The Akron had several accidents and a coast-to-coast voyage before she went down in bad weather on April 4, 1933 off New Jersey, killing all but three souls on board.
