ARTIFACT: This is a pewter mug for P.B. Ale, which was brewed by Van Nostrand's Bunker Hill Brewery in Boston, Massachusetts. The mug is from the period prior to Prohibition, which began in 1920. The mug simply reads P.B. Ale (Purest and Best) in script on both its front and reverse and has a decorative handle.

VINTAGE: Circa early 1900s-1910s.

SIZE: Approximately 4-1/4" in height and 3-7/16" in diameter (at lip); handle sticks out from mug 1-13/16".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Pewter.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: 124 MANNING BOWMAN & CO. QUADRUPLE PLATE.

CONDITION: 6- (Fine): The mug has a moderate overall tarnish and spots of corrosion along base and on the interior. There is a medium dent in one side as well, which only helps one imagine the devil-may-care merriment that once accompanied the usage of this piece.
