This is a sterling silver World War II United States Coast Guard son-in-service pin. The pin is a Coast Guard crest hanging beneath a painted rectangle bearing a single star.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 1" in height and 3/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver with painted areas.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety-style pin; suspension ring.
MARKINGS:STERLING.
