ARTIFACT: This is a World War II Polaris Flight Academy pilot training service collar insignia. Polaris Flight Academy set up shop in 1941 at War Eagle Field in the Mojave Desert, initially training cadets of the Royal and Royal Canadian Air Forces. Polaris widened its clientele to include the United States Army Air Forces after the Pearl Harbor attacks. The insignia is a petite, angular wing with a blue, red and white enameled bull's-eye at its center.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1/4" in height and 1-1/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated sterling silver, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop-in locking catch.

MARKINGS: STERLING.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a civil aviation collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAEX11 LHEX9/11 TrHEX11/12

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The pin shows some small areas of light wear and tarnish; all enamel is intact.
