ARTIFACT: This is a circa Spanish-American War badge for the United States Army 4th Corps, 1st Division. The badge is red, and its design is known as a caltrop, or a four-pointed star with diamond-like shapes at the end of each arm.

VINTAGE: Circa Spanish-American War (1898).

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/2 square.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with C catch.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The DI has a small area of discoloration to the enamel and some surface crazing; moderate tarnish on reverse.
