Description
This is a souvenir patch for the United States Navy research submarine USS Albacore AGSS-56The Albacore was launched on August 1, 1953 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in (Portsmouth, NH/Kittery, Maine). Albacore was the first submarine to model what is now termed the "Albacore hull". She was decommissioned December 9, 1972 and is now a museum in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The patch is embroidered with the ship's motto Praenuntius futuri (Forerunner of the future).
VINTAGE:Circa 1990s or early 2000s.
SIZE:Approximately 4-1/2" in height and 4-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Twill embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester threads.
