Description
This is a simple and beautiful Indonesian kris (or keris) with a scabbard. A keris is a dagger native to Indonesia as well as a handful of neighboring countries, with an asymmetrical blade. This one has a beautifully carved wooden grip and a wide, curving, crescent-like guard. The scabbard is wood encased in a decorative brass plating. The kris dates to the last half of nineteenth century.
VINTAGE:Circa last half of nineteenth century.
SIZE:Approximately 2-7/8" in width (across guard) and 15-1/2" in length; blade only: 12-1/8" in length and 1-1/8" in width (widest section before guard); scabbard only: approximately 14-1/2" in length and 5-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Steel, wood, brass.
