Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an early World War II Civilian Pilot Training Program (CPTP) instructor collar insignia. The CPTP was set up before the United States' involvement in world War II to training civilians how to become pilots. When the program gained momentum after the Pearl Harbor attacks, it was renamed the War Training Service (WTS). The insignia is a small eagle in unmarked sterling silver.

VINTAGE:

Circa early World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 5/16" in height and 1-5/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Sterling silver.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

None.
