ARTIFACT:

This is a Scarce World War II Free French Navy Cruiser Montcalm Badge made in the USA by S. E. Eby.

This is a circa 1943 Free French Navy badge for the cruiser Montcalm. Montcalm, launched on October 26, 1935, was chosen to represent her native country at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Montcalm participated in the D-Day Invasion, taking position at Omaha Beach alongside fellow ship Georges Leygues. She was decommissioned May 1, 195The badge is by Eby of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the American port at which Montcalm was refitted in 1943.
