Description

ARTIFACT:

Scarce original M. 1872 United States Army Enlisted Man's Helmet Plate. The plate features the coat of arms, the Great Seal of the United States. An eagle, wings spread clutching three arrows in one talon and an oak leaf in the other, a shield is centered on its chest, above it reads: "E. PLURIBUS UNUM".

Stamped gilt bronze.

CONDITION:

8+ (Excellent): Helmet plate shows light wear with an overall handsome patina, one of the hooks for attachment on the reverse is missing.
