Description
This is a scarce circa 1930s or World War II "little sailor" (marinaretto) cap badge for an officer-in-training for the Italian Fascist Youth (GIL: Gioventù Italiana del Littorio). The group began in 1926 as the ONB (Opera Nazionale Balilla) and was renamed GIL in 193The GIL's pre-Marine cadet training was at Brindisi and Venice. The badge has an anchor bearing the letter M at its center in golden bullion. The above photo is not included in the sale of the badge - it is to illustrate how it was worn only.

SIZE:Approximately 2" in height and 2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wool embroidered in bullion thread, muslin backing.
